nothing but correct will do

Funny story that: The girls love to play peek-a-boo, and in our household that goes down in Norwegian. One day a couple weeks ago Judge was playing with Eliana and Leona joined in as she likes to do, and suddenly she focuses intently on Judge and says ‘No, like this: ‘Borte borte borte’ (means ‘gone gone gone’). Judge: Borte borte borte.

Leona: NO! Like this: Borte borte! Judge and I have a moment of confusion before I realize she is demanding he pronounce the ‘r’ properly. I also realize that she is, in fact, pronouncing it correctly now, something that is new in her development.

Judge tries again. And again. And again, upon Leona’s request. Leona is on the verge of frustrated tears. Judge apologizes, saying he is trying his best, but he just isn’t able to say it like that. After a few more tries as dictated by Leona, the moment passes.

Totally made my day.
