we got a 2-year-old in the house!

Yesterday was Leona's birthday. She turned two. TWO. And the party was a bit like last year - the three of us and my mom - but with a few extras that my mom brought with her. All super successes.

[First - balloons!!]

[Next, presents - a mug and awesome perfect-for-a-two-year-old animal puzzles, from mormor]

[...and a trainset from me and Judge]

Twas interesting, because after just the balloons and these three gifts I could tell Leona was a bit overwhelmed by it all. In a positive way, but still, can't imagine if it had been a 'regular' party with everything that comes with it. Perhaps we keep her a bit too sheltered? But it works for us so it must be ok ;)

[Learning about the wonders of candles being blown out]

[...yep, it just had fire going on a second ago...]

[practicing her new skills]

The cake was a banana cake, following a recipe I had gotten from a friend. We had tasted it at her house previously, and were shocked that there were only three teaspoons of vanilla sugar in it (sugar-wise). The secret: super super over-ripe bananas. Am a bit unsure why, but our cake looked and tasted nothing like her cake...it was more of a very unsweet banana bread. Leona didn't even want to try it - but she gobbled up a lot of the cookies my mom had baked and brought for her (about same amount of sugar as the cake, but eaten and loved previously by Leona). I, on the other hand, am enjoying my banana cake heated in a frying pan with globs of delicious butter on top. Yum!

[the crown was also from her mormor]

[Leona style - put the crown on by herself]

[a fun-and-lovefilled afternoon]
