What we know for certain right now is that my dad is coming for a three-week visit in September (yay!), and that we will be living at my in-laws' until the beginning of October.
Then we enter The Semi-Unknown. We will talk with Judge's dad when we get to Taiwan to make a plan regarding Judge learning about the business. Perhaps we will head to China from October until the end of January so Judge can apprentice under his dad's partner, learning the ropes and details.
We have a couple initial goals, business-wise. The first is to help ensure the website gets up to an acceptable quality level, and the second is to be the link for info-flow between two potential markets (headed by friends of mine) and the business.
Then we may head back to Taiwan for Judge to man the business there.
Another option may be for Judge to just head to China for a week, alone, to get initiated in it, then jump right in to running the Taiwan market.
In terms of our initial goals, however, us being in China for 3.5-4 months is more better.
If we find out the business doesn't suit us, or the work-family life balance isn't up to par (this will be a tough one to reach after being spoiled in Norway these past 21 months), we will start hunting for jobs for Judge in Norway and try to come back here after Chinese New Year or so. And we just so happen to have a really strong lead on material-technology engineer positions that may be perfect for him. Potential-whoop!
Here's to flexible, ever evolving plans!
