There were no fireworks, themed parties, sugar highs or a gift frenzy. Just the four of us enjoying a delicious dinner (as per usual) and then a few gifts before bed:
From grand-auntie Brit a koselig card and three onesies - one for each of me, Judge and my mom ("My mom is my love, there is no one above", "I love Daddy" and "But grandma said yes!")
From mormor:
[Muffin-tins for MTMs -
for when she has gotten to where she doesn't throw everything onto the floor :P]
[Duplo!]
[and her first hair-stuffs - two sets of clips and bands]
And from me and Judge:
- Her communication has really skyrocketed these past few weeks, where in terms of signing she still signs
- milk (with her adjustment to the hand by the corner of her mouth). All.the.time.
- [drink] water
- eat
- please give me that (outstretched arm and then open-close-open-close of fist...like milk)
- no thank you (shaking of head...very very good at this one)
- more - when sitting in her high-chair (reach/point to something and then jerk arm back and basically knock her funny-bone...a sign she's come up with on her own)
- done (her open palm up by her chest facing out)
- please play the "i'm going to tickle you" game with me (two hands palms out with elbows held together in front of chest...her tickle-defense stance)
- "I'm going to tickle you" (pointer-finger up at mouth...then she tap-tap-taps on a body part of ours as her tickling - the first part is what Judge does before he tickles her)
- bye/good night (hand-wave of course)
- need to go pee/potty/change my diaper/[play with the toys in the bathroom] (patting self on chest)
- up (of course...outstretched arms)
- sleepy-time (palm on side of face - not used often)
- She totally knows what she wants to eat. She'll have a few bites avocado, then not want more, but will take maybe a few bites of porrige, then will want perhaps some fish/chicken/meat stuffs if we're having that, or some berries, or something else, then back to avocado, etc. etc. Key for her is that she enjoys to switch it up every few bites, and knows exactly what it is she wants to eat next
- She'll go get her bottle and bring it to Judge when she wants formula during the day
- She can stand up unsupported for longer periods, and is a total cruiser
- She has a super sweet, kind of meek voice when she talks to/about her stuffed animal, rubber duckies, or small living animals
- She still nurses many (and I mean many) times at night
- Will now go willingly to bed, even when it's me taking her (!!) - though we have to stay with her until she falls asleep still, and if she wakes up enough during the evening she needs help to get back to sleep (during the night she needs to nurse - she comes into bed with me when I go to sleep and stays there with us until morning)
- She is so happy every morning when she sees Judge open his eyes and look at her
- When I say I have to go to work and that she will continue sleeping with her papa, she will wave happily at me even before I've given her a kiss
- She now enjoys playing with snow
- She also loves to play with water
- She still loves to drink water out of water-bottles and glasses/cups
- She gives open mouthed kisses and will let you know if she is open to a kiss from you or not
- She has an open dialogue with herself when she wants to do something she knows she shouldn't: She will look at it (ie. wants to open cupboard door), she will shake her head "no, I am not allowed to do that" once maybe even twice, sometimes she will look at us and then shake her head again and we will say that she's correct, it is forbidden (or something to that extent), and then she will most often do whatever it is she's wanting to do, looking at us again so we can follow up with her about it ;)
- If she does something she isn't sure is allowed, she will often think about it a little, do it, then look at us and either wait for our response, or shake her head if she thinks it's along the lines of 'not allowed'
- She's had her first proper fever (last Friday night) and has her first proper cold (or whatnot) right now
- She's small for her age. We don't know how small right now, but I think she's in the 15th percentile or so. We will be taking her for her check-up on Friday, so we'll know then
- Oh, and on our 2-year anniversary (april 16th) she said 'mamma' for the first time for reals (I think). She's said "mamamam" for a long time...always three syllables, but on that Monday evening she said "mamma" several times when I was putting her to bed, and has done so every so often since. What a sweet, sweet sound.
.
Happy birthday, L.
